Abstract Abandoned quarries are valuable as a tourism element, they exhibit the building material of buildings built in geographical area located historical objects. However, order to determine how can be used for purposes, it is necessary constraints on choice solution spatial arrangements. The aim this study investigate ancient limestone quarry Mardin, which natural and cultural geological heritage, develop suggestions. Within scope study, examine possibilities an idle Mardin province Turkey tourism, selection post-use will determined. In whether accessible safe visit, various field studies were carried out area, laboratory experiments analyses. caves scanned with 3D laser scanner, its plans sections obtained. findings evaluated suggestions developed use tourism.
